I hard coded this site, for those of you that don't know what hard coding is;

To hard code or hard coding (also, hard-code/hard-coding, hardcode/hardcoding) refers to the software development practice of embedding input or configuration data directly into the source code of a program or other executable object, or fixed formatting of the data, instead of obtaining that data from external sources or generating data or formatting in the program itself with the given input.

So every time I add a new post to this site, I have to edit the file directly instead of entering the text in a field and have code format it for me. This may sound time consuming and it is, but it's something I enjoy. It really gives me a feeling of accomplishment every time I make a new post.

On to some good things, I started messing around with Ruby on Rails today. Let me tell you, it's quite scary how it works. You don't have to do much of anything that you would with other types of code. RoR is quite nice and the learning curve is very low, unlike php which can be hard for most people at first. I haven't done much with RoR, but what I have has been fun. I downloaded a program called Locomotive, which makes a RoR sever on your Mac, mainly just for testing and local development. Here is a video of RoR showing how easy it is to make a simple blog.

As you can tell, I've completed a new layout last night. After designing DSwain's logo, I was in a design groove so I thought "hey, why not make a new layout?" and BLAM!, here it is. I loved the original colors so much, so why change? I finally how a real logo for my site and got around to include a caption summing up the content of my site, well kind of. Im still working on posting some code examples and my explorations of new findings. I have stopped using the <pre> tag and went to <p> and <div> tags, not every has been switched from <pre>, but they will be soon. I really like the <pre> tags, it makes aligning things extremely easy, but it was messing up my web page in different browsers. Speaking about code, I just remembered about Ruby on Rails, so I might just do some experimenting with that and post my journeys here. It should be a fun time, if I really get around to learning RoR. Here is a great video showing off some of the things it can do, mostly things in RoR are done with little effort or at least it seems like that.

Since my boss is away this week, it's quite fun to park in his spot while he's gone. He has his own little spot that has a sign that says "CEO of Global Online Electronic Services." I had called him today and it seemed like he was having fun at the VON conference. The only bad thing about him being away is that I have to come in on days I don't work and coming in early on days I do. Oh well, it's more money for me.

On another note, I feel like I've been going insane little bits at a time. Recently I feel like I've been looking at myself in a third person view, not imagining it, but feeling like I lived past moments in such a view. When I try to remember things that have happened, I feel like I'm watching myself do those past actions. Put it this way, try and think about something you have done recently, something like going to a friends house or eating and then imagine that you are watching yourself do thoes actions. The only thing is, I don't imagine myself watching myself, I feel like it really happened that way. It scares me at times, wondering if I am really going insane or is it normal? It's been magnifying more and more, today I was typing in IRC, but I felt like I was watching myself, though I didn't feel like I was really typing, just watching.

If you can get anything out of what I was trying to say today, then good for you sir, good for you.

It's been a week since I've made a post, I have been doing quite a few things, new and old. Again I went to my friend's house this weekend, we played Twisted Metal Black and watched football, fun fun fun!!! I started use IRC alot more than normal, I quit using Colloquy and started using Linkinus (pic), it's not free, but I got it from a giveaway. I began reading xkcd more often and laid off of Bash.org for awhile. Finally changed my guitar stings, man those things were dirty and started playing again, I kind of stopped for a bit. As most of you know, Mac OS X Leopard came out on Friday, but I don't have any money for it as of now.

Ok so on to what has happened today. Im currently at work by myself since my boss is speaking at VON all this week, awesome. I finally made a logo for DSwain's web dev site, it's kick-ass, also made a mock-up of his site. Mostly browsed the web and IRC'd (at work). I might be going back up to UNH next week for a few days again, then bringing DSwain back down for the weekend, which should be fun.

Well for the most part alot has happened in the past week, but didn't feel like going into some extreme detail. New Bash.og quote. End.

Posting from my bed yet again, laptop + wireless = fun anywere. I'm watching the movie "Regarding Henry" with Harrison Ford, it's a pretty good movie. Well anyway I finally told my boss that I'm leaving soon, I'd say that it went over pretty well. It was quite hard to tell him, but I really have to do what is good for me. I said that I'll give him the final 2 weeks notice when I get a good solid millworking job.

Here are some thoughts on PHP and ColdFusion. PHP is great, it's free, can do almost anything you want it too, but it can be quite hard to learn it. You really have to eat, breathe, sleep in PHP to finally learn it. ColdFusion is not bad, but who really want's to spend $1,200 for some coding that does the samething that PHP does. ColdFusion is a bit easier to under stand then PHP is, but at times you can do something in CF and you can do that samething in PHP, but in PHP the code would be alot shorter. Probably the worst about the two would be changing CF into PHP or vice versa which was something I had to do for 2 weeks at work. In the end of those weeks I found out that CF + PHP = Evil.

I might be going back up to UNH soon, to hang out with DSwain for a week or so. Probably will go up a week before I start my new job. Man it was fun up there, the food, the people, just everything was great. End.

I got back from my friend's house earlier than normal, but whatever. Again I'm on my bed posting, this time watching Supper Troopers. For awhile this site's host was down for a bit, but it's great now thanks to the magic of DSwain.

I really have to save up for some thing I need and plan on getting.

	Things I need:
	 -Oil change for my car
	 -Bicycle helmet
	 -Bicycle tune-up
-Carb rebuilt on my XR100 (Selling it)

	Things I want:
-Mac OS X Leopard (Oct 26!)
-XFX 7600 GT APG 8x (Old gaming rig)
-Calgary Flames Iginla Hockey Jersey (B-Day maybe)
	 -Apple iPhone
-Some other things I can't think of right now

The oil change is something I really need, I am about 2,000 miles over. I am going to a few millworking shops this week, so hopefully I can get a new job soon. That's it for tonight, and posted the new Bash.org quote of the week.

Well I didn't post when I said I would, but it's not a big deal. I picked up Valve's Orange Box, I'll say that Team Fortress 2 and Portal some of the best games I've ever played. I beat Portal in about 3 hours, it gets very strange at points. There is a storyline, but you really have to think about it and what it could be. It was a very original idea, even though humans as lab rats have been thought of before. TF2 is probably the most fast paced deathmatch game since Quake in my mind. The different classes to choose from and the amazing cell shaded graphics.

Other than playing those games, I haven't been doing much. The therapist was great again, she really helps out alot in going through what I want to do in life. I have another visit with her 4 weeks from now. I glad that I'm taking the time to see such a person.

I've lived a thousand times,
I found out what it means to be believed.

Just hanging out on my bed right now, got up about 8am, normal time. My arm is so damn itchy, for the past month, my whole body has been itchy. Anyways, I still wish that I was back up at UNH, man that was so much fun. Well this was a short one, I'll probably post after my Doctors visit tomorrow.

Not much else to say, but just to let you know, I do have an archive section where you can look at all my old posts up to the most recent. I leave you with this:

Got back from UNH, it was awesome. I swear it was like being in a different country. NH is much better than Hackettstown, by a long shot. The Phil Lesh show was awesome, it was so jamming. check out swainnet for more information on the show. I wish I was still up there, probably for a few more days.

I went trail riding with a guy from work with 2 of his friends. It was quite a bie of fun, I might just start doing it every so often. They were older guys, but they acted like little kids, some funny shit they said. Anyways I'm posting on my couch watching Magnum Force, a dirty harry film. I so tired I can just barely see the screen, man it's like I have 2 boulders sitting on my eyes. This is it for now, just updated the quote of the week.

(10/7/2007)

Just got home from my weekly visit to my friend's house for Football. He has direct tv with NFL sunday ticket, so we get to see every game. I used to be a football fan when I was younger, but then I just started getting back into it.

So anyway, I am going up to UNH then to Boston for a Phil Lesh concert which should be quite fun. I'm leaving Tuesday and coming back thursday afternoon sometime.I can't wait to get away from home for a while. It's about a 6 hour drive to UNH then another hour to Boston, it's not too bad, but well worth it. My friend Chris is coming up and then we are meeting Doug at UNH then heading to the show at 7pm. I've seen Lesh only once, this will be my 2nd time. I will hopfuly post when I get to UNH.

(10/4/2007)

It is now 10:37am, just thought I would start posting my favorite Bash.org quote every week.

[The Bash.org quote of the week]

I am finally starting to use my website that I've had for so long, I just never had the motivation to design and post on it. Now that I have time I will be trying to post at least twice a week or more. The time is coming for me to start my new job as a cabinet and door maker. I will most likely work at F&B Millwork in Washington, NJ

(10/3/2007)

Well here is my first post on my finally finished website. After going through quite a few layout ideas, this very simple, all html layout is the one liked the most.

I started seeing a psychologist today to help me with my anger issues and to how to cope with them. I'd have to say that at the first session she really was a big help on finding out why I was have so much anger. I found out that it comes from frustration that I get when I know what I want to do, but I never end up doing it because I'm afraid that I'll upset or disappoint the people around me. She said that my life is all about me and no one else. I realized that I end up putting other people's feelings before mine. It took until today to find out why I felt so angry. It's so great to finally know the reason why, something that has taken about 3 years to figure out. She said to make a plan of what I want to do and not take into consideration other's opinions or feelings because it's my life and I can live however I want. I have another session with her the wednesday after next.

So that's an update of my life as of now, more posts will come.
